RAMONES - Leave Home [1977] Vinyl Rip!!!

Slightly less primitive than the Ramones' debut, Leave Home is somehow more melodic, poppier, and heavier than its predecessor. "Glad to See You Go" name-drops "the passion" of Charles Manson, while the terrific "Commando" ("First rule is the laws of Germany / Second rule is be nice to mommy") brings to mind a funnier MC5. But "Oh, Oh, I Love Her So" is pure classic pop--metallic bubblegum and their first foray into the Beach Boys-inspired harmonies that would be used to greater effect on Rocket to Russia. The "bruddahs" even do a speeded-up version of "California Sun" to drive the point home. "Pinhead" gave birth to the "Gabba! Gabba! Hey!" rallying cry. [Bill Holdship]

Now, what could I say for this Punk Rock classic, one of the those R'n'R records on my alltime Top Ten list. For me it's [if possible] even better than their debut lp, and with "Rocket To Russia" And "Pleasant Dreams"represents their best slabs. My highschool days would't be the same without this stuff. And now, let me introduce you to the shock treatment Vinyl Rip from the 80's UK reissue on Mau Mau records. I know you're familiar with overhyped Rhino rec. issues, but you should check this out! Why?!? 'Cause this here is the best Ramones sound on the net, and it's executed by Mr.Eliminator himself, enough said. Includes "Carbona Not Glue". D-U-M-B Everyone's accusing me. Dig!!!

"Fourth rule is: Eat kosher salamis"

"Wondering what I'm doing tonight
I've been in the closet and feel all right
Ran out of Carbona
Mom threw out the glue
Ran out of paint and roach spray too..."
