                                   THE JESTERS

Known only by their incendiary 1966 waxing Cadillac Man, the Jesters nevertheless have an amazing reputation as the most crazed Memphis garage rock 'n' rollers of their era. This cache of previously unissued Sun recordings is inconceivably even more deranged than the band's lone single. Featuring lead screamer Tommy Minga and the berserk, headless-chicken guitar of Teddy Paige, the Jesters are now revealed as the true analogue to the rockabilly wildmen of Sun Records' 50s heyday. The tracklisting is bolstered by four sought-after 1966 sides by Tommy Minga's band the Escapades. [Amazon Review]

Previously unissued stuff by this Memphis garage gang that owes far more to '50s rock & roll, rockabilly, and R&B than the usual such group. Four single sides by The Escapades [well known for "I Tell No Lies" from Pebbles vol.5] are pure garage fun.
